The: Accessing the (Land) (Archive) *Forgery Station is an interactive sculpture which invites the audience to create their own forged stamp seals for the fictional Office of Public Opinion (OPO). The stamp grants the audience Authorised Access to visit any of Ireland’s ancient sites. The *Forgery Station explores the relationships between access, private ownership and bureaucracy. The work interrogates the power structures and systems which control how we as a society get to experience information and history.
The scuplture plays with the themes of Irish State bureaucracy and invites the visitors to produce their own forged stamps to democratise and promote access. Making the official state's stamp obsolete through constant re-production and dupes, the state's power over our experiences de-centers, placing control back into the hands of the people.
